Following their comeback in November 2021, the Nigerian singing duo Peter and Paul Okoye, better known as Psquare, embarked on a world tour in 2022 that allowed them to reconnect with their fans in towns across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America. Now, weeks later, they have revealed that the first project of their reunion will be released in 2023. The musicians shared their experiences with 2022 in a message of gratitude to their fans.
Psquare, who completed a “100 cities tour” dubbed the “P-Square Reunion World Tour,” said they made money at every performance last year.
Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P, one half of the legendary pair, made the announcement on social media. He explained that it was a strategic choice not to release a new project in 2022 while they were on tour and interacting with their fans, promising them of the arrival of the new body of work.
Mr. P posted the following on Instagram: “Confession! Yes, there was a strategy behind delaying the release of a new album after the reunion. Because we wanted to spend a year performing our old, beloved classic hits all around the world! And believe @psquare we sold out and profited! And as of right now, dis 2023 will also include a brand-new record. Sense lgbo We appreciate your patience and help, Psquare lovers! Here we go in 2023.”
It’s interesting to note that Psquare will begin their Europe Tour in a few weeks in March and go through May 2023.
Psquare has gained enormous popularity worldwide thanks to their songs, making them one of Africa’s most well-known musical groups for more than a decade. They used Square Records to make and distribute their records (now Square Root Entertainment)
The twin brothers split up in 2017 to focus on their own careers. The numerous award-winning team came to an end as a result. The brothers apologized to their fans during a reunion concert in December 2021, declaring their reconciliation and return as a pair. Since making a comeback, the musical group has so far recorded two songs, “Jaiye” (Ihe Geme) and “Find Somebody.”
They also gave performances abroad, appearing as special guests at Afronation festivals in Ghana and Portugal, where they nostalgically relived past glories. Fans will undoubtedly be excited to hear a new record from the duo, whose music encapsulates several stages in the development of Afrobeats.
