In Abuja on Friday, the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) admitted certified true copies of academic and work records belonging to President Bola Tinubu, which were presented by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku.
Among the documents submitted as evidence were Tinubu’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Certificate, a certificate from Chicago State University, and a certificate of service from Mobil Nigeria Oil Company Plc.
Additional documents accepted as evidence included a computer-generated copy of a Guinean passport bearing the name Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as a notarized document showing a criminal forfeiture of $460,000, accompanied by a certified cover note.
The petitioners presented these documents through a witness, Mr. Mike Enahoro-Eba, who was subpoenaed. Enahoro-Eba, a private legal practitioner, was led in evidence by the lead counsel for the petitioners, Mr. Chris Uche, SAN.
To support their allegations of the president’s disqualification to contest the February 25 presidential election and irregularities in the election itself, the petitioners also submitted a certificate of compliance and a witness statement on oath.
During the proceedings, the witness informed the court that the NYSC certificate included in the president’s documents submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with his nomination form, Form EC9, was issued in the name Tinubu Bola Adekunle. The witness also stated that the transcript from South West College, which was submitted as part of the admission process for Chicago State University under the name Bola Ahmed Tinubu, indicated the applicant’s gender as female.
