President Bola Tinubu has honored his campaign pledge by officially enacting the Student Loan Bill into law.
In an announcement made on Monday, the Federal Government’s spokesperson, Mr. Dele Alake, confirmed that the funds will be held within the Ministry of Education and exclusively allocated to financially disadvantaged students pursuing higher education.
The Student Loan Bill, which was championed by the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, successfully passed its third reading in the House two weeks ago.
The bill aims to provide interest-free loans to indigent Nigerian students and establishes the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, facilitating greater accessibility to higher education for those in need.
