As his inauguration on May 29 approaches, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced the dissolution of his cabinet in preparation for the upcoming ceremony.
In a letter dated Tuesday, May 23, 2023, the governor officially terminated the appointments of all political office holders and requested them to hand over government properties under their custody.
The letter, signed by Segun Ogunwuyi, the Chief of Staff to the Governor and Chairman of the Transition and Inauguration Committee, conveyed the directive from Governor Makinde. It stated that the dissolution of the Oyo State Executive Council and the termination of all political appointments take effect immediately.
All political office holders were instructed to officially hand over and relinquish all government properties in their possession to the most senior civil servant in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. The directive, however, excludes political officeholders in statutory commissions.
Governor Makinde, who emerged victorious in the governorship poll by a significant margin, is set to be sworn in for a second term in office on May 29.
