The All Progressives Congress in Benue State has suspended Senator Barnabas Gemade, Prof Terhemba Shija, and several ward chairmen for engaging in activities that go against the party. According to the state party chairman, Comrade Austin Agada, the two former governorship aspirants collaborated with the PDP in Benue to prevent the APC from having a candidate after being rejected by the people at the primaries.
Agada expressed concern about their recent activities with the PDP and their efforts to take the party to court to thwart their recent victory.
Agada noted that, “Most worrisome is their recent activities with the PDP to take the party to court and alleged several issues to ensure that the recent victory is thwarted.”
Agada accused Gemade and Shija of working against the APC in order to prevent the party from fielding candidates in the just-concluded general election, particularly for the governorship position.
He criticized their collaboration with the PDP to undermine the APC, even after the election. Agada expressed his dismay at the fact that a party member would take legal action against their own candidate to prevent the party from fielding a candidate.
He announced that the duo, along with five ward executives in Konshisha and Obi, were suspended and referred to the fact-finding and disciplinary committee for further investigation.
