According to BBC sports, sources have revealed that Everton Football Club, who are currently struggling in the Premier League, are in discussions regarding new investments with MSP Sports Capital and 777 Partners.
The talks concern the funding for Everton’s new stadium, which is set to be built at Bramley-Moore Dock. Although owner Farhad Moshiri stated in February that the club was not for sale, discussions with top investors have taken place. MSP Sports Capital did not respond to requests for comments, and 777 declined to comment.
Everton currently sit in 19th place in the Premier League, with four games left to play. The club has been referred to an independent commission by the Premier League over an alleged breach of Financial Fair Play rules. Additionally, the club has posted financial losses for five consecutive years, amounting to over £430m in losses.
Everton’s new stadium, with a capacity of 52,888, is scheduled to be completed by the 2024-2025 season, but costs have risen from an initial figure of £500m to approximately £760m. MSP Sports Capital and 777 Partners are both investment firms with a history of owning stakes in European football clubs.
