Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has held direct talks with Liverpool target Mason Mount, in an effort to tie him down to a new deal with the club.
That’s according to The Athletic, who says the Blues still hold the England international in high regard, despite several contract offers being rejected.
As a consequence, on Friday, Boehly himself held a conversation with Mount. He implored his importance within the squad and reiterated his desire to keep him at the club.
Chelsea feels the discussions were a positive step forward. They now believe it’s feasible he stays put even if it once seemed inevitable.
