According to Football Insider, Arsenal are in pole position to land Declan Rice signing as competitor back out from the transfer race. The Gunners are becoming increasingly optimistic about landing the 24-year-old midfielder this summer.
Chelsea, who were previously understood to be the favourites to sign their former academy graduate, have abandoned their pursuit of Rice due to financial struggles, while Newcastle have pulled the plug as well owing to West Ham’s £80-100m price tag, and Rice’s hefty wage demands.
Per GOAL, The other London-based midfielder who has emerged on the radars of the Gunners is wantaway Chelsea star Mason Mount, or as we describe him, Rice’s best mate. Given the advancing age of the regular midfield duo, Granit Xhaka (30) and Thomas Partey (29), alongside a dearth of backup options, midfield appear to be top of Arteta’s agenda.
