Peter Enahoro, a veteran journalist and highly acclaimed columnist from Nigeria, passed away at the age of 88 in London, UK on Monday. Enahoro, who was known by his pen name “Peter Pan,” was announced to have died by Nigeria’s distinguished female journalist, Ms. Bunmi Sofola, in a brief statement.
Enahoro was a trailblazer in Nigerian journalism and was also a successful author, publisher, and businessman. He served as editor of the Daily Times at a young age and gained widespread recognition for his popular column in New African magazine under the pseudonym “Peter Pan.”
Enahoro attended Government College in Ughelli, where he was contemporaries with JP Clark, a famous poet and Africa’s first professor of English. Enahoro has been described as “perhaps Africa’s best-known international journalist.”
