An unfortunate incident happened on Sunday when an auto crash occurred at the Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in the death of six individuals, including the bus driver, three women, and two children.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, and rescue operations are still ongoing. According to the Lagos Deputy Corps Commander (Operations), Lucas Oguntade, some victims were rescued and are receiving medical attention at the hospital, while others suffered fatal injuries.
Oguntade said: “As we speak, the rescue operation is not yet concluded. There are some deaths, while some are rescued and have been taken to the hospital,”
The official explained that the cause of the crash was not necessarily due to speeding, as it may seem to someone without technical knowledge. The Commission is currently investigating the incident to determine the exact cause and prevent similar accidents from happening in the future.
“From the look of things, we know that the vehicle somersaulted and resulted in this high level of casualties.
“Meanwhile, the investigation must be concluded before we can now give a holistic appraisal of the incident,” he added.
