The Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar III, has appealed to residents of the state to fully support census officials by providing them with unrestricted access. Speaking during an event to commemorate Eid el-Fitr, the Emir stressed the importance of assisting enumerators in obtaining accurate information.
He reminded the people that the census would involve counting not only individuals but also houses.
In his statement, he said, “The census will soon commence it will not only be about people; houses too will be counted. Give them (enumerators) your consent during the process, agree for them to count you and your household.”
The Emir also urged the Muslim faithful to emulate the lessons of Ramadan, which include assisting those in need. He commended the Muhammadu Yahaya-led administration for its efforts in developing infrastructure across the 11 Local Government Areas, such as building roads and classrooms. Finally, the Emir called on residents to prioritize security consciousness and peaceful coexistence.
