According to Mr. Farouk Dogondaji, the EFCC Kano Zonal Commander, in an interview on Friday in Kano, 20 personnel were assigned to monitor the state Assembly elections in Kafur and Kankara in Katsina State.
He also mentioned that enough personnel were deployed to monitor the exercise in Tudun Wada/Doguwa, Takai federal constituency, and some state assembly elections in Kano State. Additionally, to prevent vote buying, more personnel were sent to oversee House of Assembly elections in Katsina and Jigawa.
Mr. Farouk Dogondaji said, “We have also deployed officers to Malam Aminu Kano International airport in Kano and the metropolis to monitor the exercise.
“ We will be visible in all the polling units in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa to carefully monitor the entire exercise during and after the elections.
“We will be physically present at collection centres to prevent tampering with results from the Local Government Areas to the state.
“We are carefully monitoring the entire exercise along with state security agencies, towards providing a peaceful atmosphere for eligible voters to elect their leaders,” he noted.
According to Dogondaji, the deployment of personnel was a crucial step towards achieving the commission’s objective of facilitating credible and transparent elections in the region.
In addition, the EFCC had implemented various measures to prevent any attempts to manipulate the electoral process. Despite this, the commander emphasized the importance of the staff carrying out their national duty with precision and professionalism.
