James Rodriguez began his football career at Envigado before making a move to Banfield in Argentina. It was during his time at Porto, where he spent three years, that he gained prominence in Europe and garnered several individual awards and trophies.

In 2014, James transferred from AS Monaco to Real Madrid for a hefty fee of £63 million, which made him the most expensive Colombian player and one of the costliest players worldwide at the time.

His debut season at Real Madrid was a success, as he earned a spot in the La Liga Team of the Season and secured the La Liga Best Midfielder award. After a two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich, James joined Everton in the Premier League in 2020 on a free transfer before moving on to Olympiacos.

James revealed his decision to terminate his contract via his Twitter handle.

He wrote: “I would like to thank everyone for all the time that we have spent together. although we are going our separate ways, I feel that I will always be a member and welcomed in the family of the great port Piraeus. I wish all the best to Olympiacos and every success in the future.”
