According to a report by AS’ Javi Miguel, Xavi believes that the squad is in dire need of right-back and has set his sights of Villarreal man Juan Foyth.
Xavi has had to make do with Jules Koundé and Ronald Araújo, both centre-backs, as right-backs this season. The coach reportedly had a meeting with Joan Laporta and Mateu Alemany following the elimination from Copa del Rey on Wednesday night, and Foyth’s name was suggested.
However, Villarreal have included a €54 million release clause in the Argentine international’s contract. Considering Barcelona’s financial struggles, the figure seems out of reach for them, but things could certainly change before the start of the next season.
