According to a report by the Mirror, Drake, the famous Canadian rapper, won a significant sum of $2.7 million when Israel Adesanya regained his middleweight title by defeating Alex Pereira in UFC 287. Adesanya, who was originally from Nigeria but raised in New Zealand, managed to reclaim the 185lb title only five months after losing it to his fierce rival Pereira, who had previously beaten him twice in kickboxing.
In their previous encounter, Drake had lost a bet of $1.6 million after placing it on Adesanya to win. However, he made up for that loss in the rematch between Adesanya and Pereira by betting $500,000 on Adesanya’s victory, which earned him $885,000, and another $400,000 on Adesanya’s victory by knockout, resulting in an enormous payout of $1.8 million.
After his fight, Adesanya was asked to comment about Drake’s bet in which he said, “Shoutout to everyone that bet on me but you have to realise that when I step into the octagon I put my life on the line.
“That’s the biggest parlay you can ever do. I’m a betting man too so shoutout to stake, we are about to make another deal and get more money.”
