In commemoration of the Easter celebration, The Federal Government has announced that Friday 7 and Monday 10, April 2023 will be public holidays.
The statement was issued by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola through the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Begore, on Wednesday in Abuja. Aregbesola urged Christians to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ by showing sacrifice, unity, forgiveness, kindness, love, peace, and patience. He also encouraged all Nigerians to pray for an end to the ongoing security issues in certain regions of the country.
Aregbesola noted that: “Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, urge Nigerians and foreigners resident in our country to display a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of all security agencies in bringing peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry”.
The Minister confirmed that the Federal Government is committed to ensuring a peaceful transition of government following the successful election. As he wished Christians both in Nigeria and abroad a happy and tranquil Easter, he also implored them to show love to their neighbors by being kind and generous, with those who are better off sharing their resources with the less privileged.
The Minister reiterated Nigeria’s pursuit of greatness and urged all citizens to utilize their creativity and energy in a positive manner to achieve prosperity.
