Army raids kidnappers’ den, rescue commissioner in Cross River

Nigerian troops from 13th Brigade Calabar deployed for Operation in Akpakwu, have rescued Commissioner for Cross River Women’s Affairs Ms. Gertrude Nyal from captivity.
The rescue announcement is contained in the captain Dorcas Aluko statement, Army Public Relations Officer,13th Brigade, Calabar on Wednesday.
The commissioner was kidnapped on February 1 in the MaAvenue area,Calabar South.

“Using actionable information about the victims’ whereabouts, the military quietly ambushed the kidnappers near Peter Effiong Creek, Messembe and Jebs.
“The brave troops tactically set ambushes and took the kidnappers by surprise while they searched for their victim.”

“In the ensuing melee, the criminals abandoned their victims and fled into the creek,”Aluko said.
She added that the troop is on the trail of the fleeing criminals.
According to Aluko, the victim is currently undergoing treatment and will be released later.
“The commander of the 13th Brigade of the Nigerian Army commends the troops for their bravery and urges them to keep pace against all criminal elements within the brigade’s area of ​​responsibility.
