Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party, LP, was declared the victor of the just ended presidential election on Wednesday by the pan-Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere instead of Tinibu.
According to the report given by Daily Post Nigeria on their twitter page, Afenifere, the leading yoruba organization stated that the All Progressives Congress’ Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s announcement as president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was unlawful…
The group made a point of pointing out that the Presidential and National Assembly elections did not meet the criteria set forth in the Election Act of 2022, as modified.
In a statement issued by its Secretary-General, Chief Sola Ebiseni, the group said that the election umpire’s flagrant contempt for the law promoted electoral brigandage at the polling places.
“That His Excellency Peter Gregory Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, won the said election, and we therefore support his decision to challenge the contrary declaration by the INEC. The results of the lawful votes cast at the election are available to the Afenifere through credible sources, which confirm this.
