On Wednesday, the Presidential Election Petition court (PEPC) will issue a ruling on a motion filed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). INEC is seeking to modify the orders that allowed Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) respectively, to inspect the materials used during the previous presidential election.
The three-member panel, led by Justice Joseph Ikyegh, chose this date after hearing arguments from both parties in relation to the motion. While INEC’s legal representative, Ibrahim Inuwa (SAN), requested that the court grant the motion, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), the lawyer for Peter Obi and the Labour Party, urged the court to dismiss it.
