The Kano State Police Command has issued a warning ahead of the March 11 election, alleging that some politicians are planning to import thugs to disrupt the process.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command urged all troublemakers and miscreants to stay away from the state, and announced its determination to deal decisively with any acts of violence.
The police are reportedly working with other security agencies to apprehend and prosecute political thugs, as well as their sponsors, and will charge them to court if found guilty.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Dauda, called on the people of Kano State to cooperate with the security agencies to ensure a peaceful and violence-free election.
