South West youths have pledged to support Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and cast at least five million ballots in his favor in the upcoming elections. The Afenifere national youth council, headed by Eniola Ojajuni Ojajuni, made the commitment to Obi on Sunday, February 19. Obi stands out in his vision for Nigeria, he claimed, and the southeast will soon provide the leader of that nation.
The Afenifere national youth council has committed to supporting Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, with at least five million votes in the upcoming elections after abandoning Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The group is supporting Obi because of his track record as the governor of Anambra state, according to Eniola Ojajuni, the national president of the council, who was speaking on Sunday, February 19. Ojajuni stated that one of Obi’s campaign promises is to restructure Nigeria if and when he is elected president on February 25, according to the New Telegraph.
The boss of the council said that the choice to support Obi was made after extensive deliberation and consultation, saying: “We are here to officially endorse the candidate of the LP, Obi as the sole candidate for the Southwest youth wing.
After over three months of deliberation among 147 youth organizations throughout Yoruba country, we officially declared Obi and his running companion, Ahmed Datti, as our sole candidates for the presidential election that will take place on Saturday. “Obi promised us that the first thing he would do is reform the country before we gave him our support.”
“We think the election will go on as planned, we think it will be free and fair, and we think the youth in the Southwest are ready to vote,” Our goal is to cast five million votes for him “He believes that since other geopolitical regions have had their fair share of presidents, it is now the southeast’s turn to create one.
He said: “We backed Obi because the Yoruba had their chance at the presidency through former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, both of whom are from the South-South.” Muhammadu Buhari, our current president, is a native of the North. For the sake of fairness and equity, it is now the Southeast’s turn to produce the president.”
In the most recent electoral survey conducted by Nextier SPD, an African-based international development consulting business, Obi once again outperformed his rivals Bola Tinubu of the APC and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.
Obi scored a total of 37% in the poll, closely followed by the PDP (27%), and the APC (24%), according to a tweet seen on the Labour Party’s official website on Sunday, February 5. Although being considered the underdog in the presidential polls, this most recent development makes Obi a strong favorite to win in a few days.
