The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has urged the public to avoid abusing bank employees because they too are suffering from the nation’s cash shortage.
The congress made the request in a statement released on Monday in Lagos State and signed by its president, Festus Osifo, and secretary general, Nuhu Toro.
It stated that junior and senior staff members of banks and financial institutions were only employees who solely distributed the currency made accessible to various banks by the regulatory organizations.
“Our fellow compatriots should realize that bank employees are like other Nigerians, victims of the bad implementation of the new currency design strategy,” the message said in part.
They endure the same hardships as other Nigerians since they must support their families and take care of their own financial demands.
The TUC begs to the Nigerian people not to provoke one another and, if they wish to express their feelings in public, as is their human right, to do so in a peaceful manner.
