Alhaji Sule Lamido, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former governor of Jigawa State, has criticized former president Olusegun Obasanjo for endorsing Peter Obi as his presidential candidate for the upcoming general elections in 2023, calling it regrettable and sad.

Lamido addressed the party members yesterday in Bamaina town of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of the state at the ceremonial reception to welcome his former deputy governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mahmud Gumel, back to the party.

Obasanjo’s choice, according to Lamido, was regrettable, but he emphasized that this would not prevent the party from winning the upcoming general elections “with God’s grace.”

He claims that the PDP, not Peter Obi or any other political party, is what made Obasanjo the man he is today. However, he left the party because to personal reasons.

Lamido stated, “It is really terrible that after the PDP offered Obasanjo opportunities to serve for eight years as President, now you endorsed someone else from another party as your candidate.

The former governor then welcomed his deputy back to PDP and said that the party would always be their home because they were among its founders.

The former deputy governor, Gumel, stated during his statements that numerous APC bigwigs will soon join PDP in the coming days.

He asserts that the PDP is still a strong political force both at the local and federal levels and that it will win the upcoming general election.

Then he pledged to work hard with thousands of his supporters to assure the party’s triumph.
