Fulham capitalized on a disastrous first-half performance from Liverpool to secure a 3-2 victory at Craven Cottage, handing Arne Slot’s side their second Premier League defeat of the season. Liverpool had a chance to extend their lead to 14 points after Arsenal’s draw with Everton, but instead, they conceded three goals in a chaotic 14-minute spell after Alexis Mac Allister’s early long-range opener. The defeat ended Liverpool’s impressive 26-game unbeaten run.
The turnaround started when Ryan Sessegnon smashed in Fulham’s equalizer after a cross ricocheted off makeshift right-back Curtis Jones’ thigh. It was a poor goal for Liverpool to concede, and things got worse when Andrew Robertson’s misplaced pass handed possession to Fulham, allowing Alex Iwobi to score via a deflection off Caoimhin Kelleher.
Liverpool were still reeling when Rodrigo Muniz added a third for Fulham, finishing coolly past Kelleher after a brilliant bit of skill to slip away from Virgil van Dijk on the edge of the box. This marked the first time since their 7-2 loss to Aston Villa in October 2020 that Liverpool had conceded three goals in the first half of a Premier League match.
In the second half, Liverpool improved, with Luis Diaz pulling one back from Conor Bradley’s assist. Despite other chances, including Mohamed Salah blasting over from Diaz’s cross and Harvey Elliott hitting the bar with a curling shot, Fulham held firm to secure the win, following back-to-back losses to Arsenal and Crystal Palace.
The result sees Fulham rise to eighth in the standings, boosting their chances of European qualification, while Liverpool missed a chance to extend their lead over Arsenal in the title race, remaining 11 points clear.
