Liverpool Football Club is not up for sale, and its owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), have not received any formal approaches regarding a potential purchase, despite recent speculation linking the club to billionaire Elon Musk.
The rumors gained traction after Errol Musk, father of the world’s wealthiest individual, suggested that his son might be interested in acquiring the iconic Premier League team. However, no offers or discussions have taken place to support these claims. FSG, who acquired Liverpool for £300 million in 2010, have previously explored opportunities for external investment but have never actively pursued a full sale of the club.
While the prospect of Musk buying Liverpool has captured attention, the cost of such a purchase would represent only a small fraction—just over 1%—of his reported £340 billion fortune. Adding to the speculation, Errol Musk mentioned his family’s connections to the city of Liverpool, potentially fueling the alleged interest.
Despite the intrigue, there is no concrete indication that Musk intends to buy the Reds, and FSG remains focused on their current stewardship of the club.
