Dominant Dortmund Cruise Past Dinamo Zagreb to Bolster Knockout Stage Hopes

Borussia Dortmund cruised to a convincing 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, solidifying their push for a top-eight finish and automatic qualification to the knockout stages. The victory showcased the German side’s dominance, as they controlled much of the game and continued their strong run in Europe this season.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens broke the deadlock just before halftime, rifling home in the 41st minute after relentless Dortmund pressure. The lead was doubled early in the second half when defender Ramy Bensebaini, left unmarked, nodded in a well-placed header from a corner in the 56th minute.

Serhou Guirassy, making his return to the squad after a brief illness, came off the bench to seal the victory in style. The forward slotted home in the dying minutes, capping an assured performance from last year’s Champions League finalists. Dortmund were unlucky not to add more, striking the woodwork twice during the match.

With four wins in five games, Dortmund now sit on 12 points in fourth place, firmly on track for automatic progression. They are just three games away from cementing their place in the top eight, which guarantees direct entry to the knockout stages. Meanwhile, teams outside the top eight will face qualification play-offs for a chance to advance further in the competition. Dortmund’s comprehensive display underscores their ambition to avoid the play-offs and continue their European journey in dominant fashion.
