Kim Min-jae’s Header Secures Bayern’s 1-0 Victory Over 10-Man PSG

Bayern Munich earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, with Kim Min-jae’s first-half header proving decisive at the Allianz Arena. The win bolsters Bayern’s chances of finishing in the top eight of the league phase, while PSG’s struggles in Europe continue, leaving them without a win since their opening-round triumph over Girona.

Kingsley Coman was Bayern’s standout performer in the first half, tormenting PSG’s defense with his pace and trickery. The French winger came close to breaking the deadlock in the 28th minute after a dazzling solo run that saw him beat three defenders, but his shot sailed just over the bar.

The breakthrough came minutes later from a set piece. Bayern capitalized on a poor decision from PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, who started ahead of Gianluigi Donnarumma. Safonov misjudged a pinpoint Joshua Kimmich corner, allowing Kim Min-jae to rise unchallenged and nod the ball into the back of the net, giving the hosts a deserved lead.

Bayern maintained their dominance throughout the first half, with Kimmich and Leroy Sané coming close to doubling the advantage. PSG, on the other hand, looked disjointed and created few meaningful chances, with the half-time whistle offering them a much-needed reprieve.

PSG’s uphill battle grew steeper in the 57th minute when Ousmane Dembélé was sent off. Already booked for dissent in the first half, the French winger earned a second yellow card for a reckless foul on Alphonso Davies deep in Bayern’s half. While some might question whether the challenge merited another booking, Dembélé’s decision to commit such a foul left his team with 10 men for the remainder of the match.

Despite their numerical advantage, Bayern failed to capitalize fully, with star striker Harry Kane unusually quiet following his hat-trick heroics last Friday. Vincent Kompany’s side adopted a cautious, pragmatic approach in the closing stages, focusing on preserving their narrow lead rather than pushing for a second goal.

The final whistle marked a significant three points for Bayern, keeping them firmly in contention for a top-eight finish in the league phase with three games remaining. For PSG, however, the loss highlights their ongoing European woes, with time running out to secure their place in the competition’s knockout rounds.
