Mohamed Salah has expressed his disappointment over Liverpool’s delay in offering him a new contract, admitting he feels “probably more out than in” as his current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.
The news will concern Liverpool fans, who passionately chanted Salah’s name during the second half of their dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Southampton on Sunday. Salah’s brace was instrumental in securing the win, which extended Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League table.
The 32-year-old forward is enjoying another outstanding campaign, with 10 goals and six assists in just 12 league appearances. Despite his pivotal role in Liverpool’s success, the prospects of the Egyptian extending his stay beyond his current eight-season tenure remain uncertain.
Speaking to the media after the game at St. Mary’s, Salah didn’t hold back on his feelings. “We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club,” he said. “I’m probably more out than in.
“You know, I’ve been here for many years, and there is no club like Liverpool. But, in the end, it’s not in my hands. As I said before, it’s almost December, and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.”
When asked if the lack of a contract offer had left him disappointed, Salah replied candidly: “Of course, yes. I love the fans, and the fans love me. But, in the end, it’s not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
The Egyptian star emphasized that his focus remains on delivering success for the team while waiting for clarity about his future. “I’m not going to retire anytime soon, so I’m just playing, focusing on the season, and trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed, but we’ll see.”
Liverpool’s management now faces mounting pressure to secure Salah’s future as fans await developments in what could be a pivotal chapter in the club’s recent history.
