Darwin Nunez netted the decisive goal as Liverpool secured a 1-0 win over RB Leipzig, continuing their flawless run in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Despite an energetic start from the home side, Liverpool took the lead in the 27th minute when Nunez tapped in from close range after Mo Salah’s header found him on the goal line. The goal marked Nunez’s second of the season.

Before halftime, Virgil van Dijk came close to doubling the lead with a powerful header from a right-wing corner, only to see his effort tipped over the crossbar by the Leipzig goalkeeper. Leipzig had a stroke of luck just before the break when the referee waved off a strong penalty appeal after Willi Orban appeared to trip Nunez in the box.

Liverpool dominated much of the second half, with Alexis Mac Allister striking the crossbar with a stunning effort from distance. Leipzig had a late chance to equalize, but Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher produced a crucial save to deny Benjamin Sesko.

With this win, Liverpool remain perfect in the Champions League, joining Aston Villa at the top of the standings with three wins from three matches. Up next, they face a significant challenge as they visit Arsenal in a high-stakes Premier League showdown on Sunday.
