Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund found the back of the net as Manchester United staged a comeback to defeat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford, marking their first victory in over a month. After conceding a controversial goal just before halftime, United fought back to claim a much-needed win.
The victory moved United up to 10th place in the Premier League standings, with 11 points from eight matches, relieving some of the mounting pressure on manager Erik ten Hag, whose future had been under intense media scrutiny. Brentford, on the other hand, slipped to 12th place, sitting just a point behind United with 10 points.
The match saw a moment of controversy when United were temporarily down to 10 men. In stoppage time of the first half, Ethan Pinnock headed in Brentford’s goal from a corner, capitalizing on the absence of Matthijs de Ligt, who was ordered off the pitch by referee Sam Barrott to treat a head wound.
Determined to turn the game around, United came out with renewed energy after the break. Just two minutes into the second half, Garnacho pounced on a cross from Marcus Rashford, driving the ball into the far corner from close range to equalize. Hojlund completed the turnaround with a stunning goal in the 62nd minute, receiving a clever back-heel pass from Bruno Fernandes and delicately chipping it over Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken to secure the win.
