Federal Head of Service Didi Walson-Jack Calls for Greater Collaboration Between Federal and State Civil Services to Drive National Development

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, has underscored the crucial need for closer collaboration between the Federal and State Civil Services to build a more innovative, responsive, and citizen-centered civil service. She stressed that both arms of the civil service must function as a united team, sharing their successes and working together toward the shared goal of national development.

During the inaugural virtual interactive meeting with the Heads of Civil Service from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Walson-Jack highlighted the vast pool of diverse and talented individuals within the civil service. She noted that their collective knowledge, experience, and expertise are invaluable assets to the nation’s progress.

Walson-Jack explained that the virtual meeting served as a platform for the exchange of ideas and feedback, which would be instrumental in improving services provided to Nigerians. She assured state officials of her commitment to using her skills and experience to transform the civil service into a world-class institution that drives national development.

She expressed her resolve to build on the achievements of her predecessors while exploring new avenues to create a more effective and impactful civil service, one that can deliver on the aspirations for a better Nigeria. Walson-Jack called on state Heads of Service to actively support and collaborate with her in this endeavor.

Recognizing the civil service as the engine of governance, Walson-Jack praised the dedication of state Heads of Service for maintaining the values of accountability, meritocracy, professionalism, loyalty, and efficiency. She also emphasized the importance of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025, which is built on six key pillars and enablers aimed at transforming the civil service into a more dynamic and effective force for national development.
