Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has revealed plans by his administration to increase the minimum wage for workers in the state to N85,000. Sanwo-Olu made this announcement during a televised interview on Channels TV on Wednesday evening, in a program titled “One-On-One with Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”
Addressing the topic of minimum wage, the governor said, “I’m pleased to inform you that the minimum wage for workers in Lagos, after discussions with our union, has been set at N85,000. It’s not about competing with other states; rather, it’s based on our capacity and what we can afford.”
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the decision was made to ensure that the government could sustainably support the wage increase while meeting the needs of its workers.
