The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved over N4 billion for the execution of several key projects across different parts of the state. This development was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

According to Olatunbosun, one of the major approvals includes the award of a N2 billion contract for the construction of a multi-purpose building at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti. The project, which has been awarded to Messrs Axial Nigeria Limited, is expected to be completed within 30 months. The building will consist of four wards, each with 20 beds, aimed at significantly improving patient care at the teaching hospital.

The state executive council also approved a sum of N416.8 million for the procurement and installation of furniture and fittings at the state’s cargo airport. This move is intended to enhance the comfort and convenience of passengers and airport officials, contributing to the airport’s operational efficiency and improving the overall travel experience.

In addition to these projects, N634.1 million was approved for the procurement of two Sinotruck Howo 4×2 Hook Arm Garbage trucks and two Sinotruck 4×2 Garbage compactors for the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority. This acquisition is expected to boost the agency’s ability to manage waste effectively, ensuring that Ado Ekiti and its surrounding areas are kept clean and free of harmful substances.

Other approvals include the implementation of a Biometric System for state government workers, aimed at improving accountability and streamlining payroll processes, among other initiatives to enhance governance and service delivery across the state.
