Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has unveiled a 23-man roster for Nigeria’s pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying doubleheader against Libya’s Mediterranean Knights. The squad, announced by the Nigeria Football Federation on Saturday, includes several well-known players, but there are notable omissions due to injuries.
Among the key players missing from the lineup are Galatasaray’s star forward Victor Osimhen and Orlando Pirates’ defender Olisa Ndah. Both athletes have been forced out of the qualifiers due to injury concerns. Osimhen, in particular, has been in remarkable form this season but sustained a muscle injury during Galatasaray’s Super Lig match against KasımpaÅŸa on September 28.
The Turkish club later confirmed that the 25-year-old striker had strained the upper left posterior muscle group, which will keep him off the field for several weeks, dealing a significant blow to Nigeria’s attack in the upcoming matches.
