Escalating Conflict: Hezbollah and Israeli Troops Clash Amid Intensified Strikes Across Lebanon

Hezbollah announced on Saturday that its fighters were engaging Israeli troops along Lebanon’s southern border, where Israel’s military reported striking militants from the group inside a mosque. The recent surge in violence has seen heavy Israeli strikes on Hezbollah positions throughout Lebanon, turning nearly a year of cross-border skirmishes into a full-scale conflict.

Hamas reported that an Israeli airstrike on the Beddawi refugee camp in Tripoli killed one of its commanders, Saeed Attallah Ali, along with his wife and two daughters. This marks the first Israeli strike on northern Tripoli during the current escalation.

The violence comes shortly before the first anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel. Israeli forces have intensified their strikes on Hezbollah positions, with over 1,110 casualties reported in Lebanon since September 23. Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for a rocket attack on Israel’s Ramat David airbase.

Israel has responded by targeting Hezbollah fighters, reportedly killing 250 this week. On Saturday, Israeli forces struck a militant command center inside a mosque in Bint Jbeil, Lebanon.
