The Federal Government, through the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative and the Ministry of Youth Development, has distributed 2,000 CNG-powered tricycles to empower Nigerian youths. The event, held at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja, marked part of Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary celebrations.
Michael Oluwagbemi, Project Director of the Presidential CNG Initiative, stated that the tricycle distribution fulfilled President Bola Tinubu’s promise to reduce transportation costs, boost the economy, promote clean fuel, and create jobs for the youth. The tricycles, assembled in Shagamu, are expected to generate employment in operations, maintenance, and deployment across Nigeria.
Youth Minister Dr. Jamila Bio-Ibrahim praised the initiative for easing transportation challenges and highlighted the National Youth Investment Fund as a support system for young investors in the sector. The Ministry also aims to collaborate with the CNG initiative to reach a target of 2 million tricycles.
