The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) have decided to enhance their partnership, with a particular focus on improving their intelligence-sharing mechanisms. This strategic move aims to more effectively combat economic and financial crimes, as well as corruption within the country.

This decision was formalized during a visit by Paul Akugbo, the newly appointed Director of Base Command Liaison for Lagos State at the DSS, to the EFCC office in Lagos on Thursday. According to a statement released by Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Akugbo highlighted the significance of his visit in strengthening the ongoing collaboration between the DSS and EFCC. Oyewale praised the EFCC for its relentless efforts in fighting corruption and noted that Akugbo described the visit as a proactive step to engage directly with field personnel and improve coordination.

In his remarks, Michael Wetkas, the Acting Director of the EFCC Lagos Directorate, expressed his pleasure in welcoming Akugbo and his team. Wetkas reiterated that the DSS and the EFCC have a longstanding history of working together effectively.
