On Thursday morning, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials to all 18 local government areas in Edo State. The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Onuoha Anugbum, personally oversaw the process, ensuring proper supervision as the materials were dispatched from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) premises.
Anugbum confirmed the start of the distribution to reporters who had gathered at the CBN’s location at Akpakpava junction, near Ring Road, Benin City. The materials were loaded onto vehicles already stationed outside the bank, ready to transport them to their respective destinations across the state.
The vicinity around the CBN was temporarily closed off to regular commercial activities, with buses using alternate routes to access and exit the area. Journalists from both print and broadcast media were present in large numbers, eager to document the process. Party officials also arrived early to observe and ensure the proper handling of materials.
Even as a light drizzle fell in the early hours, the distribution team worked diligently under a canopy that had been set up for stakeholders, ensuring the smooth and efficient continuation of the task at hand.
