President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for the 2024 National Honours Award, which will recognize Nigerians and international allies who have made notable contributions to the nation’s growth.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Zaphaniah Jisalo, during a meeting with senior ministry officials in Abuja on Tuesday.
Jisalo stated that the upcoming awards will honor Nigerians who have excelled across various sectors, highlighting the government’s commitment to acknowledging outstanding achievements. He assured that the nomination and selection process will be fair, transparent, and free of any fees throughout the process.
Additionally, the minister shared that the public would soon be invited to propose candidates who have demonstrated exceptional service to the country’s development, following the guidelines of the National Honours Award Act of 2004.
The Act, which took retroactive effect from 1963, sets the standards for granting these distinguished awards.
