On Friday, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced that his administration is investing N8 billion in acquiring tractors and land-clearing equipment, along with an additional N2 billion for agricultural input support to boost food production in the state.

Speaking at the Agricultural Input Supply Unit (AISU) in Ede, where 31 new tractors were unveiled, Adeleke also announced the distribution of 6,000 herbicides, 80,000 cashew seedlings, 8,000 cassava cuttings, various vegetable seeds, and 500 bags of lime to farmers, women’s groups, individuals with disabilities, and government schools.

Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Tola Faseru, added that the tractors would be distributed through a Public-Private Partnership with farmers’ associations and other groups. He also mentioned that the governor would present N8.6 million to each poultry farmer in the Osun Broiler Outgrower Production Scheme (OBOPS), which supports the raising of broiler chickens. Additionally, primary and secondary schools will be given seeds to join the food security initiative.
