A fire broke out early Friday morning at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters on Odunsanmi Street, near WEMPCO Road in the Ogba area. The blaze occurred around 2:20 am, damaging part of a two-storey building.
Reports indicate that the fire affected one of the two-bedroom units in Flat 5, Block 21, a three-storey building with 16 two-bedroom apartments. An initial investigation by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical surge in the children’s room.
Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, stated that the fire completely destroyed the children’s bedroom, resulting in the loss of properties valued at millions of naira. Thankfully, no lives were lost, and no injuries were reported.
“Residents and victims were also educated on the correct use of electrical appliances,” Oke-Osanyitolu added.
