APC Disregards Court Order, Dismisses Benue APC Executive Committee

The Benue chapter of the All Progressives Congress faced a new development when the National Working Committee announced on Wednesday the dissolution of the executives led by Austine Agada. In their place, the NWC swiftly established a seven-member caretaker committee to manage state-level party affairs for the next six months.

The newly appointed committee includes Benjamin Omale as chairman and Prof. Bem Angwe as secretary, along with Richard Mzungweve, James Ornguga, Terhemen Ngbea, Helen Agaigbe, and Ali Francis Adah as members.

This leadership change occurred shortly after a Benue High Court issued an injunction preventing the APC from removing Agada and the current executives. Justice Theresa Igoche’s ex parte order in Motion No MH/1585m/2024 barred the Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje-led NWC from dismissing the Agada-led State Working Committee until the end of their four-year term.

The APC in Benue has been embroiled in a dispute with Governor Hyacinth Alia over party leadership. Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume supports the Agada-led committee, while Alia favors the faction led by Benjamin Omakolo.
