The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has notified the Federal Government of its intention to initiate a nationwide strike, issuing a 21-day ultimatum.
ASUU sources revealed this update after a National Executive Council meeting held at the University of Ibadan on Monday. The notice will be forwarded to the Federal Ministries of Labour and Education.
This development follows ASUU’s previous warnings about a strike due to unmet agreements with the federal government. On June 26, Education Minister Prof. Tahir Mamman had called for a meeting to address these issues and prevent the strike. However, ASUU President Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke confirmed that the agreements remain unfulfilled.
