The National Centre for Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) has urged the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to join forces in tackling arms proliferation in the country.
During a visit to the NSCDC Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, NCCSALW National Coordinator Johnson Kokumo emphasized that the partnership aims to strengthen efforts in combating the spread of illicit weapons. He highlighted that reducing the availability of small and light arms could significantly decrease violent conflicts nationwide.
Kokumo also pointed out that the presence of illegal weapons in the hands of unauthorized individuals has been a major factor in escalating violence and criminal activities in Nigeria.
