President Bola Tinubu has dismissed Jalal Arabi as Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), appointing Prof. Abdullahi Usman as the new Executive Chairman. Arabi, who took office in October, is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged mishandling of the N90 billion allocated for the 2024 Hajj subsidy by the Federal Government.
Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, announced on Monday that Usman’s appointment is pending Senate confirmation. Prof. Usman, an academic with credentials from the University of Madinah and Peshawar University, previously led the Kano State Pilgrims Board.
