Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior, currently with Spanish club Real Madrid, has reportedly declined a massive €1 billion ($1.1 billion) offer from Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli. This offer, labeled by Spanish Marca newspaper as “the largest transfer deal in football history,” would have paid Vinicius €200 million annually over five years. Al-Ahli was reportedly eager to secure the Brazilian star’s signature at any cost.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund, which owns Al-Ahli, is aggressively recruiting elite talent to elevate the Saudi Pro League’s global standing. Despite this lucrative offer, sources close to the 24-year-old Brazilian confirm that Real Madrid was not interested in negotiating a transfer.
Vinicius’s buy-out clause is set at €1 billion. Moreover, Saudi officials proposed a separate 10-year contract for Vinicius to serve as an ambassador for the 2034 World Cup, which Saudi Arabia is set to host.
In spite of this unprecedented financial package and the ambassadorial role, the Ballon d’Or contender has chosen to stay at Santiago Bernabeu, recently extending his contract with Real Madrid until 2027.
