The conflict over the new Araromi-Owu monarch in Ayedaade Local Government Area, Osun State, has intensified after gunmen attacked the palace, killing two policemen and a young man named Abass. The identities of the policemen are not yet known.

The assault occurred shortly after news emerged that the kingmakers had selected a candidate from Orile-Owu and begun coronation preparations. The gunmen, reportedly aligned with the Araromi-Owu faction, targeted the palace to disrupt the process and abduct the new candidate. The attack follows recent clashes between Orile-Owu and Araromi-Owu communities, which had already resulted in two deaths and significant property damage.
