Explosion Hits Buni Yadi Market in Yobe State; IED Suspected

An explosion, likely caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), has rocked Buni Yadi market in Gujba Local Government Area, Yobe State. The market, located 54 kilometers from the state capital, Damaturu, was hit around 12:30 pm, according to Channels Television.

Ali Hassan, a resident of Buni Yadi, reported that a girl was injured in the blast. Captain Muhammad Shehu, spokesperson for Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed that the explosion was the result of a planted IED, not a suicide attack.

Shehu also mentioned that another IED found at the scene was safely detonated by the Army. The injured girl is currently receiving treatment at a local healthcare facility in Buni Yadi.
