Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has disconnected power supply to Aliko Dangote University, Wudil, citing an outstanding debt of N248 million.

Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf, Managing Director of KEDCO, explained to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview on Monday that the university had only made a partial payment of N20 million towards the debt.

Yusuf emphasized that restoration of power would only occur upon substantial payment from the university’s management. He highlighted KEDCO’s significant expenditure on purchasing power from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), underscoring the necessity for heightened efforts in revenue generation.

“I urge all institutions, including federal and state entities, as well as agencies, to settle their outstanding debts,” Yusuf stated, adding that KEDCO has implemented stringent measures to ensure the recovery of owed funds.
