Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has assured stakeholders in the agriculture sector that his administration is actively addressing farm inputs, mechanization, and food security.

According to a press release by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor made this statement after a weekend meeting with a Nordic firm interested in establishing a tractor assembly plant in Osun. He highlighted that his agricultural strategy is comprehensive and inclusive.

“We take agriculture very seriously. Our government initially focused on addressing the infrastructure deficit to improve connectivity between rural and urban areas. We prioritized building roads and bridges to support the agricultural sector’s transportation and market linkages. Having made significant progress in infrastructure, we are now ready to implement specific programs for the agricultural sector,” the governor said.

Adeleke announced the formation of an implementation committee to act on the recommendations of the food security committee. This committee, chaired by his special adviser on Agriculture, Olaniran Akanfe, is tasked with putting the food committee’s suggestions and proposals into effect. Other committee members include Olusola Omole, Dr. Alaba Towoju, Dr. Olu Olajide, Hon. Moshood Yakub, Hon. Alexander Kehinde Oloke, Adelowo Adekunle Saburi, Kolade Tunde (TISKO), and Engr. Badmus Bukola Mikail.

The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture will serve as the committee’s secretary, while the commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Tola Faseru, will oversee the committee as the overall coordinator,” Adeleke stated.
